1.0 Welcoming speech by YDP PTA

1.1 YDP PTA welcomed all the members.

1.2 Dato’ Thong requested Mr. Kok to explain on Mr. & Mrs. Tan - parents’ complaint. Mr. Kok informed that the incident happened on 20th May 2010; Thursday regards to Mr. Halim slapped Tan Yong Qing at Boy’s Boarding Office. He read both statement written by Tan Yong Qing and Mr. Halim. He added that immediate actions were taken but there was no sufficient information. However, Mr. Kok revealed that the school can’t proceed with further investigation as the parents made a police report.

1.3 Dato’ Thong asked whether the Mr. Halim, warden might be very temperamental. Mr. Kok replied since the day Mr. Halim reported with the school, there is no any case or disciplinary action on him. Dato’ Thong concluded there is no motif for the warden to slap and he requested that both party have to meet up and forgive whereby it will reduce Tan Yong Qing’s fear. This suggestion was agreed by all the PTA members. However, Mrs. Tan expressed that she is still worried about her son’s safety at the boarding.

2.0 Bureau Report

2.1 Academic and Displine

2.1.1 Mr. Kok briefed on the school disciplinary. He informed that there were number of students involved in fighting and were told to leave the school. Another case involves on stealing money from the Vending Machine and was to ask to leave the school too. Besides that, two case involve in a relationship – 1st time warning were given and 2nd time – were asked to leave the school. Moreover, Mr. Kok revealed that school have to deal with 4 police report related to students’ issues.

2.1.2 Mr. Kok told around 5 teachers had left the school. There are total of 9 teachers and staff that had left the school from May to July :

Admin & HR – Ms. Yeong, Mr. Nathan

Teachers – Mr. Jailani, Mdm. Zuharirah, Mdm. Saritha, Ms. Renugga, Ms. Nalani, Mdm. Al, Mr. Mohan, Mdm. Azmaliza.

Security – Ms. Zaiton.

2.1.3 Mr. Wong shared his thoughts that the management need to get solutions on why they are number of teachers leaving. He further requested maybe hire retired teachers where it will help the teaching process. Mr. Kok told that basically, part-time teachers are hired but they can’t do prep and remain teachers have to do almost everything. Dato’ Thong expressed that the outgoing of teachers will affect the learning process and students might having difficulty in understanding the lesson. Mdm. Sybil told that maybe the management should raise up the teacher’s salary. Mr. Kok told that this school is a non-profit organization and Mr. Haridass told that the school is running out of money.

2.2 Boarding and Food

2.2.1 Dato’ Thong suggested that the boarding should allow parents to bring food from outside for their children and day outing should be for 3 hour. This suggestion was agreed by all PTA members. Moreover, PTA insists that Saturday and Sunday, parents must be able to bring meal for their children and be back before 8pm (before the prep starts). Mr. Kok told there still some parents bringing back their children late and buying meals for other students as well. Dato’ Thong suggested that if parents didn’t follow the rules, maybe they should not bring their children for outing for the whole semester. Madam Sybil suggested maybe the parents can buy meal for other students on certain occasionally, for example: on their children’s’ birthday. Mr. Wong requested the school to prepare a proper guideline for parents regards to the day outing during Saturdays and Sundays. Mr. Kok said he will convey the message to Mr. Haridass.

2.2.2 Dato’ Thong informed that PTA had told the school not to use frozen chicken and he heard that the kitchen is still using frozen chicken. Mr. Wong informed that it is good to bring up the issue to Mr. Haridass.

2.3 Sports and Co-Curriculum

2.3.1 Dato’ Thong told that the PTA will try to find a coach for badminton to train the students.

2.4 Spiritual/ Program/ Koperasi

2.4.1 Dato’ Thong informed that PTA will sponser satay for Hari Raya High Table Dinner which falls on 25th September 2010.

3.0 Financial Report

3.1 Dato’ Thong informed that the below PTA members has sponsored newspaper for the school. He requested the payment for the newspaper will be paid for every 3 month and requested Ms. Keetanjaly to inform the respective person.

3.2 Dato’ Thong added that PTA and he personally will sponsor RM 1000 for school PA system. He requested. He further informed the recent Perfect Leadership Camp is paid by the PTA.

4.0 Any Other Business

4.1 Dato’ Thong emphasized on the school blazer that was suggested last year by the PTA committee, Mdm. Sybil. Mdm. Sybil informed that her son Adam Erwan Shah knows the design. She informed the blazer will be in darkish grey and will suit for both HIBS and Saleha students. The design of the blazer will be propose on the next coming up PTA meeting.

4.2 Dato Thong and Mr. Winston suggested that the food management should be under the school and not directly under APHEM as the school is encountering with problem related to food. Mdm. Sybil informed as well the laundry.

4.3 Mrs. Chanthiran request for Tamil class for her daughter as her daughter is planning to take Tamil subject in PMR. However, Mr. Kok informed that the school can’t effort to pay allow for just one students. Dato’ Thong informed that the school maybe can organize extra Tamil class for all the Hindu students during weekends but not for exam based class.

4.4 Dato’ Thong and other parents told that there should intensive classes for those students who are weak in certain subjects. Mr. Siow replied the school will be starting Quality Time after the July home visit for exam classes – PMR, SPM, Checkpoint and IGSCE.

4.5 Dato’ Thong told that Next meeting is proposed to be with Mr. Haridass.
